In Business News Today Amid criticism within dollar-based tariff indexations, supernatural profits from the energy industry and more than Rs664 billion potential fees, the government is in discussions with independent power producers (IPPs) to secure concessions in a variety of heads and bring down entire electricity expenses. A spokesperson for the IPPs told Dawn that the discussions with the authorities are a part of an out of court settlement that's under discussion on the arrangement supplied by the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA). According to the spokesperson, the IPPs are talking possible discounts about the penal interest rates on outstanding payments owed to the energy producers. These fees now stand at Kibor and 4.5 percent. The talks revolve around bringing down these to Kibor and 2pc, given they're cleared within a specified time period. That time interval also remains under discussion.
